Which Universal Orlando Military Ticket Is Best?
One of the most common questions military families ask when planning a Universal Orlando vacation is which ticket option provides the best value.

Universal offers several different military ticket options, and the best choice depends on how long your trip will be and how often you expect to visit the parks.
This guide will help you understand the major ticket types so you can choose the option that works best for your situation.
Quick Answer: Which Universal Military Ticket Should You Choose?
If you just want the short answer, here is a quick guide to choosing the best Universal Orlando military ticket:
- Short trips (1–3 days): Regular Universal Orlando military tickets are usually the best choice.
- Longer vacations (4+ days): The Universal Orlando Military Freedom Pass is often the best value.
- Trips that include Epic Universe: Regular military tickets that include an Epic Universe day are usually the better option.
The Three Main Universal Military Ticket Options

Most military families will choose between three different ticket types:
- Universal Orlando Military Freedom Pass
- Regular Universal military discounted tickets
- Epic Universe add-on tickets
Each option has advantages depending on your travel plans.
Option 1: Universal Orlando Military Freedom Pass
The Military Freedom Pass is often the best value for longer vacations.
This ticket allows unlimited park admission to:
- Universal Studios Florida
- Universal Islands of Adventure
- Universal Volcano Bay (3-park version)
Freedom Pass tickets are valid for more than a year and can be used multiple times during the valid period.

Option 2: Regular Universal Military Tickets
Universal also offers traditional multi-day military tickets similar to standard park tickets.
These tickets typically include:
- 2-day tickets
- 3-day tickets
- 4-day tickets
Some ticket combinations include one day at Epic Universe.
These tickets are often the best choice for shorter vacations.
Option 3: Epic Universe Add-On Tickets
If you are using the Military Freedom Pass, you can also purchase a special one-day Epic Universe add-on ticket.
This allows you to spend one day exploring Universal’s newest theme park while using your Freedom Pass for the rest of your trip.

- Guests who want flexibility to revisit parks
When Regular Military Tickets May Be Better
- Short trips of two or three days
- Families visiting Universal for the first time
- Trips focused on Epic Universe
Example Trip Scenarios
Here are a few common situations that can help you decide which Universal Orlando military ticket is the best fit.
Example 1: A 2–3 Day Universal Vacation
If you are visiting Universal Orlando for only a couple of days, regular military tickets are usually the best option. These tickets give you the exact number of park days you need without paying for additional flexibility you may not use.
Example 2: A 4–5 Day Orlando Vacation
If you plan to spend several days visiting Universal parks, the Military Freedom Pass often provides the best overall value because it allows unlimited park visits during the valid period.
Example 3: Visiting Epic Universe
If your main goal is to experience Epic Universe, you may want to consider regular military tickets that include a day at the new park rather than relying on the Freedom Pass with a separate add-on.
Final Advice for Military Families
The best Universal military ticket depends on your vacation plans.
For many families taking a longer trip, the Military Freedom Pass is the best overall value.
However, for shorter vacations, traditional multi-day military tickets may still be the smarter choice.

I am planning to go to Universal in December of 2024 (6th through -8th). Should I buy a 2024 pass or will there be a 2025 freedom pass that includes December dates?
Hi David,
The last 2 times they have renewed the Freedom Pass, they have done so around Veteran’s day of the year prior (Nov 2023 for 2024 and Nov 2022 for 2023). Passes purchased after the renewals have included the time from purchase through the end of that year and the next. So if you had purchased the 2024 pass on Nov 20 2023 it was good for the rest of 2023 and the 2024 eligible dates.
Once they announce a 2025 pass, they will only sell that one and not the 2024.
One thing to keep in mind, is that Epic Universal opens the summer of 2025.
When the Harry Potter sections of the current parks opened, Universal stopped offering highly discounted military tickets for several years due to the high attendance the new sections caused.
(prior to the Freedom Pass they used to offer special highly discounted military tickets on a year by year basis as well as the standard always available slightly discounted military tickets.)
It’s unknown what will happen due to Epic Universe. Best case is that for 2025 they would offer the same 2 and 3 park Freedom Passes (foir the current parks) that they do now. A 4 park including Epic Universe is highly unlikeyl foe a few years I believe. The very worst case is that there will be no Freedom Pass for 2025 and potentially longer. I won’t be able to ask my contact untill we get much closer to November…
