7 November 2022 by Steve Bell 32 Comments

Understandably, the military community is anxiously awaiting news as to whether Universal Orlando will renew the Military Freedom Pass of 2023!

UPDATE: 7 November 2022 – Universal Orlando has informed me that the 2023 Freedom Passes will be available for purchase on 10 November 2022. Details (Price etc. will be released soon).
UPDATE: 10 November, see the 2023 Freedom Pass Information

I’ve been in contact with Universal and they have told me to expect news in “Early November.” So stand by for more info!

The Freedom Pass is a pass that is valid every single day of the year for one low price.

Freedom Passes have to be purchased from your Base Ticket Office or one that ships.

If you are unfamiliar with the pass you can see the information about the 2022 offer here.

Hi, I just joined the newsletter for 2023 updates. Will Ms. Novak be able to incorporate these types of tickets into a hotel package if the ticket is approved for 2023? Our base leisure office only sells tickets now, they refer out for the military hotel discount. Thanks for all the info!

We are flying into Orlando on November 18 and plan to spend 2-3 days at Universal. Will Shades of Green be selling the Freedom Pass or would a base ticket office have these for sale soon after the announcement? Not sure we’d have time to get the tickets shipped to us before our trip. Would prefer to purchase this type of ticket but unsure if we will be able to purchase in time once announced. was it announced on Nov 11th or earlier last year?

      Hi Katie,

Shades of Green and the Orlando ITT will be the first ticket offices to have the 2023 Freedom Passes in stock. Probably shortly after an announcement. If Universal does the same as last year the tickets will be valid from purchase right after the announcement date through 31 Dec 2023. There is alway the possibility that they will only be valid 1 Jan – 31 Dec 2023, so we’ll have to see.

The 2022 Freedom Passes are still available and valid through 31 Dec 2022.

      Hi Genevieve,

I assume that the same eligibility will be carried forward, so yes I think so.

Assuming the tickets are valid from 11 Nov 22 – 31 Dec 23, will you have the tickets available for sale on the first day they are valid? We are flying down 9-12 Nov 22. We’d like to purchase them and rush over to get them activated for use at a later time. Not sure when you got them last year. Thank you!

      Hi Denean,

This is an informational website run by a military retiree, I won’t have any tickets to sell…

Once announced, tickets should be in the Florida locations (Shades of Green and the Orlando ITT fairly quickly). Bases around the country typically take longer.

Yes. Sorry. I should have been more clear. I was wondering when the ITT and Shades of Green get tickets. Do you know if it is on the first day or whether it takes a little time? Thank you!

          Hi Denean,

I think if not the day announced, very soon thereafter.

They print physical tickets for the exchange voucher for these, and the local offices have a supply of Universal ticket stock. Once the new deal is input into their system they will be good to go

Hopefully, they will be like last year. We are scheduled to go the last week of December. Anxiously awaiting to buy tickets hoping they will roll into 2023. Going to start checking every couple of days to see if they have been announced. Good Luck All. Perhaps they will announce on 11 November/Veteran’s Day!!!

So sad went today and was told 2023 tickets you can only get 6 per family, no more 6 for service member and 6 for spouse. Also Christmas time and New Years are blackout dates, Easter is also cover under black-out dates.

      Hi Christi,

Where did you hear this? I have not been told that by Universal yet but will query them.

      Hi Christi,

Whoever told you that is incorrect (I’m assuming it was your base ticket office). Just had an email from the manager of Universal Orlando Military Sales and she said there is no change to the offer (except the new blockout dates) for 2023.

The member and spouse are still eligible for 6 tickets each.

With the blackout dates on the freedom pass, is the regular military ticket the best way to go? Are they subject to blackout?

          Hi Elizabeth,

Yes, if your dates fall within Blockout Dates you’ll need to select another ticket option. The Regular Military Universal Tickets being your next best option. There ate no blockouts on these.

I will be in Orlando 12/26-28. Can passes be activated, but not used, during the block out dates?

      Hi Andrea,

While blockout dates are new this year for the Freedom Pass and uncharted territory, I am sure that you will be able to activate them even though you won’t ba able to use them.

    Hi,

If I take my grand kids down for a trip this spring and activate 2023 Freedom Passes for them in May would they be able to use the FPs later this year on a summer trip if I am not present? They do not have military ID nor would I be traveling on the second trip. I am just going on the first trip in May. I would hate for them to be turned away and need to repurchase tickets this summer. Trying to determine if the Freedom Pass is the best fit or if we should to plan to purchase a non military ticket for them. Thank you!

Have you heard any news for the 2024 freedom passes? We will be in the area around Veterans Day and would like to get a 2024 pass instead of 2023.

      Hi Michael,

      Nothing has been announced yet.

From my conversations with Universal’s Military Sales Department, typically Universal starts working it internally in September so I’ll probably have a yes or no indication then but no details as to prices and dates. For instance for 2023 was the first year they added blockout dates and we did not find this out until the official announcement.

Universal has historically announced the next year’s Freedom Pass on Veterans Day in November (or very close to it).

I’ll post as soon as I know something.

Starting with 2023’s offer, the passes were available once the announcement was made (for the remainder of 2022 and all of 2013).

There is no history past that as 2022 was the first year the Freedom Passes were offered.
