Will There Be a 2025 Universal Orlando Freedom Pass?

9 July 2024 by Steve Bell 14 Comments

There is a lot of curiosity in the US Military Community about the availability of the Universal Freedom Pass for 2025

2025 Freedom Pass Announced!

I have received several questions about 2025 just this week!

Although it is really too early to have an answer, I emailed my contact at Universal Military Sales today to touch base and ask about 2025. As I expected, she said they have no news to share. I think that they won’t until much closer to the expected renewal time…

When Is the Universal Freedom Pass Usually Renewed?

The last 2 Freedom Pass offers (2023 and 2024) were announced in conjunction with Veteran’s Day in November of the year prior.

When they have announced in November, for example Nov. 2023, the 2023 Freedom Passes were retired at that time and the 2024 Passes immediately went on sale. These new Passes were then valid from the date purchased through the remainder of 2023 and then for all valid dates of the 2024 timeframe.

A Big Issue for 2025!

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universal could bi a big issue for the Freedom Pass!

Before Universal offered the Freedom Pass, they offered highly discounted military salute tickets on a year-to-year/annual basis, like they do the freedom pass now, but these were tickets for a specific number of days. These highly discounted tickets were in addition to the regular slightly discounted military tickets they have always offered.

But, when the Harry Potter sections of Universal Orlando’s parks opened in June of 2010, these special tickets stopped being offered for 2 or 3 years. Universal Orlando’s initial salute offer ran from January 2009 through the end of March 2010. The reason that they discontinued the highly discounted military tickets is that in business, you don’t offer a discount on something that will have high sales (attendance for theme parks), that could cause capacity issues.

During this time the regular slightly discounted military tickets were still available.

Highly discounted military tickets did not return until October of 2012. For 2012-2013 they offered a military buy 2 days get 1 free, then in 2014 a military buy 1 day get 2 free. After that they began offering highly discounted military tickets with a couple more years of the buy some days and get some free mixed in. 2022 was the first year for the Freedom Pass.

What Will Happen in 2025?

Based on history, here is what I think we can expect; there are 3 options as I see it:

Worst case scenario, the Freedom Pass will not be offered for 2025 and probably 2026 also.

Universal may offer a 2025 Freedom Pass that only runs through Epic Universes opening date (summer 2025). So perhaps the Freedom Passes would run through 30 May 2025. Then no Freedom Pass for the rest of 2025 and probably 2026 also.

And I think the best to expect is that Universal continues the current 2-Park and 3-Park Freedom Passes as they have today for 2025. These would no be valid for Epic Universe. As a reminder the 2-Park is for Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure, the 3-Park adds on Volcano Bay.

Want to Experience Epic Universe?

If you really, really want to experience Epic Universe as soon as possible, I suggest you plan and Budget on paying close to full price! You’d use the regular military tickets in this situation.

Then if I’m off base and things work out different you’ll be much better off.

      Not yet Linda,

Universal is tight-lipped. I probably won’t know till just before Veteran’s Day.

Id be thankful if they kept the 2 park freedom pass, otherwise wouldnt make it there to visit, based on the economy now.. Depending on the price I would go along and buy a ticket separately for the Epic. They gotta recoup somehow.

If they decide not to offer the freedom pass for 2025, or if they make it more restrictive, will the current one likely still be available for purchase through the end of November at least?

      Hi Eric,

Yes, if it all falls apart, the current Freedom Pass will be available until its end date in December.

      Alejandro,

I don’t have any indication that what you said is correct. The opposite.

The earliest we could see an announcement is Veteran’s Day, possibly a few days after…

Last year it was 16 November.

Travel and Leisure offices are indicating that they’ll be announced and on sale tomorrow 11/14. Same scenario as last year, announced the Thursday after Veterans Day.

Is there any scuttlebutt on if there will be a freedom pass with Epic included? That would be a crying shame for them not to add that in. Military personnel and Veterans want the opportunity to go there as well.
